Mom and Dad are the best!
I will be getting another year older in a couple of days so this afternoon I will be inviting a few friends to my place for a celebration. Well, it's actually not a celebration but a gathering. I told my mother about it a few days back and she suggested that I get some snacks and make almond jelly for dessert.
I was supposed to come home early yesterday night to make the almond jelly myself but I put in another 2.5hrs at work to complete some report so that my AM could check it over the weekend. When I got home, I realised that the dessert has already been done by my mom! Saving me some effort. Oh....... I can't get any thankful for that.
Yesterday night, I asked my dad if he could get me some soon kueh as snacks for my friends today. He agreed and he just came home with more than I expected. There was soon kueh, ha kao, siew mai, spring rolls, char siew soo.... So much food!!! How can the 5 of us finish all???
Anyway, I love you mom and dad!!!!!! Thanks for getting all that stuff for me. *Muacks*
(Updated on 12 Feb 2006)A picture of the food we had yesterday. Yummy!
The collector
This morning, I went to Singapore Post Centre to pick up "My Stamps" (
http://shop.vpost.com.sg/MyStamp/index.jsp) for my mother. Reached SPC and the customer service personnel told me that it's not ready yet and that I should call SPC before coming down to collect the stamps. After which I checked with my mom and she told me that someone from SPC called her 2 days ago to tell her that the stamps are ready for collection. Ok.... to cut long story short... I went back to the counter to check with the staff again and the lady told me that only 1 out of 2 sets of stamps are ready for collection. If I am willing to wait, she can get someone to print out the second set too. So I waited.
Anyway, this is not the point. The point is while I was waiting I noticed an uncle standing at a corner with lotsa first day covers. I also saw a set of "Uniquely Singapore" stamps which is also what my mom ordered. He caught me looking and said hi and before I knew it I was talking to an uncle who is an avid stamp collector. He is a creative man too. Creating his own first day cover for his clan's lunar new year dinner. He spoke with great enthusiasm and excitement how these stamps and first day covers will be auctioned off at tonight's dinner. It made me happy. Well... happy for him. Hmmm.... happy that there are such creative and passionate people around. I am glad that I met someone like him today. He definitely made my day.
We chatted more. When my mom's stamps are finally ready, I showed my mother's creation. Anyway, I think my mother may have personalised too many of those stamps as the SPC lady actually noted that this was not the first time my mother made an order. :D
Oh... I found out that the CNY stamp series is still around. Hmm... I think I have a pretty picture of my family which was taken on the first day of new year. Perhaps I should personalise a set as momento too? "p
Will we get lucky?
Yeah.... Our fate will be decided this Friday evening. Who will be the lucky person who will realise his/her/their dream of throwing a one month pay check in the boss's face and declare "I QUIT!". Heehee... don't we all dream about doing that.
The 13 million toto draw is this Friday! Quick go get a toto ticket and try your luck. Perhaps you will be the fortunate one to collect your winnings at Selegie this coming Monday morning!
Good luck everyone!!!!!
